Galaxy Watch or iWatch, that is the question

March 21st, 2013 by Terrence Miao 11 comments »

THE average Swiss watch costs $685. A faked Chinese one costs around $2 and tells the time exactly just as well. Same as Samsung Galaxy Watch and Apple iWatch. They can both tell you time, but no one buys them just try to find out what time it is. The allure is intangible: a matter of design, precise engineering, beautifully displayed.

Wearable smart watch not only opens a new door of communication, but also can become an accessory with health in mind. Built in sensors and health app could track an user’s comfort level, exercise and walking habits, food intake and even track weight, blood glucose levels, blood pressure and act as a sleep monitor.

So many possibilities …

Low interest rate and "good" time to spend in Australia is coming to an end soon

Comments by the RBA also suggest that current official cash rates are ‘clearly below normal levels’, and further signs that the next rate move will likely be upwards. Philip Lowe, a Reserve Bank assistant governor predicted that low official interest rates would lead to higher consumer spending, boost consumer sentiment and increase asset (mainly homes) prices.

Australia barely makes into the list, but at the bottom, no. 10

March 17th, 2013 by Terrence Miao No comments »

Germany famous of its beer industry, only makes no. 9.

France is no. 4. In France, wine is consumed alongside every meal except breakfast. It's often more freely available, and cheaper, than water. Supermarkets rarely sell alcohol that isn't French. They're happy to eat snails, but they won't touch Belgian beer.

Always sloshed Russia makes no. 3. Classic drink: Vodka. Hangover cure: Vodka.

Great Britain makes the top of the list. While the Irish have one date to celebrate their country's abiding love of alcohol, St. Patrick day, the British have three: yesterday, today and tomorrow. Classic drink: Pint of bitter — traditional ale that, contrary to popular belief, is rarely served warm. Hangover cure: Full English breakfast — a greasy plate of fried meat that, contrary to health and safety regulations, is rarely served warm.
