It seems Apple owes an enormous debt of gratitude to Gates' firm – because the iconic iPad would never have been created had a Microsoft employee not boasted to Jobs over dinner that they had a revolutionary tablet in production.

'This dinner was like the tenth time he talked to me about it, and I was so sick of it that I came home and said, "F**k this, let's show him what a tablet can really be",' Jobs said.

In November 1983, where Gates revealed his firm was developing a new operating system with a graphic interface.

    Good point!
